This lower body workout focuses on the hips, glutes, thighs and legs. These simple exercises can be done at home and are easy to add to your regular fitness routine.
For better results, perform every movement with control and focus on proper form. Consistency is more important than rushing through your workout.
6 Effective Exercises for Hips & Legs
1. Fire Hydrants 3x20
Fire hydrants target the glutes and outer hips. Start on your hands and knees, keep your core stable, and lift one leg out to the side while keeping the knee bent. Return slowly to the starting position.
2. Sumo Squat Pulses 3x18
Sumo squat pulses work the glutes, inner thighs and legs. Take a wider stance with your toes slightly turned outward, lower into a squat and perform small controlled pulses.
3. Curtsy Lunges 3x14 each leg
Curtsy lunges focus on the glutes, thighs and outer hips. Step one leg diagonally behind the other and lower your body while keeping your chest upright. Return to the starting position and repeat on the opposite side.
4. Glute Bridges 4x14
Glute bridges are a great exercise for strengthening the glutes and supporting the hips. Lie on your back with your knees bent, press through your feet and lift your hips while squeezing your glutes at the top.
5. Lateral Leg Raises 3x16
Lateral leg raises target the outer hips and glutes. Keep your body stable while lifting one leg out to the side, then lower it slowly without swinging the leg.
6. Fire Hydrant – Other Side 3x18
Repeat the fire hydrant movement on the opposite side to work both sides evenly. Keep your core engaged and use a slow, controlled movement throughout the exercise.
